The Black Swan was situated on Albert
Street. The building dated to c1700. Ever since its first mentioned in local
newspapers in 1790, a good history has been kept. Long standing landlord
George Todd had numerous run ins with the police revoking his licence on a
few occasions because of constant trouble there. He was replaced there in
1884 and George Storey kept it until 1904. It was demolished in 1925 and
replaced with a glazed brick building that was closed in 2017 after being
raided by the police for criminal activity. |
