Sawyers Arms

Rebuilt Sawyers Arms, 1987

The Sawyers Arms was situated on Listergate. This pub was present by 1860 when the publican was John Buckley. It was rebuilt in the 1930s and closed in 1988. It has now been converted into shops.

Raymond King 1960s-1970s  I would love to get pictures of the pub. My brother Roy King was a Canadian Airforce guy who still talks about it.

Raymond Goodall 1960s Used to frequent the sawyers during the time it was used a lot my the americans,a great bunch of guys,very friendly and generous too;one local guy pushed his luck by always being at the bar when they were buying the drinks but never ever offering to reciprocate,one biy yank said hey buddy you will never ever make it as a cowboy,you are too slow on the draw.
