Zetland Arms

The Zetland Arms was situated at 44 Welbeck Street. This pub closed in 1974.

From Archaeology Data Service report, 2012
The Claremont Arms was constructed between1847-c.1850, most likely as a purpose built public house and as part of a large scale residential development of the area. The building is first depicted on the Metropolitan Map of Bermondsey of c.1850, where it appears to be labelled as a public house. The structural analysis of the building supports a mid 19th century or later date for the building. The most notable alteration to the public house came with the remodelling of the building in 1914. This event included the addition of a new neo-classical frontage, larger fixed glazed fenestration to the front bar and the insertion of a new public entrance from Setchell Road. These works also included internal alterations and the creation of a new back bar serviced by the new doorway.
