The Wheatsheaf was situated on Nuthall
Road. This pub has now been converted into a McDonalds restaurant. |
|
Had our Wedding Reception here in the
upstairs function room in 1970. 19/6d a head for a sit down meal, £14 for a
4 piece band and £20 behind the bar for beer which lasted almost all night.
Those were the days. |

A friend of the family, Charlie
Scott, was the landlord, round the mid forties. He was originally from
Leeds area. His father was known as "One Eyed Cohen" His wife was called
Maureen. I remember at a young age of four, collecting glasses. Charlie
Scott dabbled in several businesses after leaving The Wheatsheaf. He
later emigrated to Australia. |
