The George Inn was situated on New Street.  This grade-II listed pub is now used as an opticians.

Listed building details:
No 4 (Old George House 23.4.52 Antiques, former George Inn) GV II Former inn, now shop. Early C17 of coursed rubblestone, stone dressings and a gabled slate roof with end stacks, that to the E of stone, to the W of brick. Two storeys and attic, 2-window range. Two canted bays with mullioned window rise up to first floor level and above these are 3-pane wooden casements. Between the bays on the ground floor is a part glazed C20 door and above this a projecting verandah with early C19 wrought ironwork and a panelled door giving onto it under a wooden lintel.
