The Carpenters Arms was situated on  Middletown, the name first recorded in 1803, and is believed to have been known as The Axe & Saw prior to this. This pub closed somewhere between the late 1960s and early 1970s and has been converted to a private residence which retains the former name - The Old Carpenters Arms.
