Colin Ballard 1974-1979 I used to play football there in a field along side the pub. And when we used to play away games we used to remove the bench seats from the pub to put in the van which the pub owner used to keep his chickens in during the week. We had such a great time and have some great memorable games. Sad to see it close.
Andrew Dolinski 1979 In late 1979 I learned to drive and began venturing from home in London to Oxfordshire out west. On one of those road journeys I stumbled upon The Woodman. What a find. A remote pub serving Brakespear beer, served from the barrel by the landlady who welcomed you into what was no more than the front room of her house. A true country locals pub. Memories of repeat visits that winter linger.
