The Vine was situated on the High Street. This grade-II listed pub closed in 2006 and is now used as the Vine & Spice, an Indian restaurant.
 

 
Listed building details:
Public house. C17 to rear, mid C18 front. Grey brick with red brick dressings; old plain-tile roof, hipped to right; brick ridge stack to left of centre, end stack to right. 2-storey, 4-window range. 4-panel part-glazed door with flat hood to centre. 3-light wood casements with segmental brick heads to left and right. Four 2-light wood casements with segmental brick heads to first floor. Timber-framed cross-wing to rear with painted brick infill; thatch roof; brick ridge stack. 2-storey, 3-window wing. Irregular fenestration of casements. Interior not inspected.

It is smaller than I remembered. When I was here in March 1998, I thought it was twice the length it is now, but looking at the building from the outside it can't have been. I remember lots of board games from 1998 as well. The Tanners Jack has gone. Greene King don't make it now. Big dog. Foody. Garden.
