New Yatt is a small collection of farms, houses and a public house. No
evidence of a church. The Saddlers Arms dates from the fourteenth century or
so (as does the Company of Saddlers, whose coat of arms is reproduced on the
pub sign), is set back from the road by a wee car park, and has three dogs
in it, one of which is a recently spayed greyhound, another of which is a
puppy. At least for the moment.
There is one cask beer, Hook Norton Best, and two kegs. The chips are good
(a basket costs £1.20) and the basket meals come with salad and are as good
and as filling as in the Turf.
The highlight of the pub for me was a bar billiards table which costs a
pound coin a shot. The upholstery looks pretty new and the clientele look
pretty old. The CD player was playing 50 Singalong Pub Piano favourites.
