Nags Head

The Nags Head was situated on the road towards Christmas Common. This pub is now in residential use.

From The Good Pub Guide 1983:
Informal and friendly, this small and neatly kept pub reckons to look after hikers and cyclists rather than smart diners-out - besides its loyal local regulars, of course. The airy front room has cushioned Windsor chairs and a bench built into one cream wall, and there are picnic-table sets with cocktail parasols on the grass beside this small white-tiled house. Bar food, mostly home made, includes soup (45p), ploughman's (£1), quiche (£1), fish pie (£1.30), and in summer salads (£1.40 to £2), with winter hot dishes such as stew with dumplings or pork and apple hot-pot (£1.85); Brakspears and Special on handpump; darts. A track nearby leads into Blackmoor Wood, and on the opposite side of the road paths take you to the Oxfordshire Way, a long-distance footpath.
