The Abingdon Arms was situated at 7
Market Street ( ex Jesus College Lane). This pub was present by 1738
when it was known as The Red Lyon and the publican was Robert Haynes. In
1750 the name was changed to The Lord Abingdon and was known as different
variations (Earl Of Abingdon Arms, Lord Abingdon Arms) until it became The
Abingdon Arms in 1822. It closed in 1961. |
