The Chequers was situated at 44 St Thomas Street.
This pub was present by 1839 when the publican was William Davis.
Known as The Maroon at time of closure, it has now been converted to
apartments. |

When I used to gig at Rosie O Grady‘s….. one of
its many names, now The Lighthouse! Anyway, I digress….
I would set the gear up, have a sound check and then go to the Chequers for
Guinness and Pool…. I can’t remember the name of the pub next door…. It’s
last name was The Honey Pot but it used to have a proper pub name before! |
