The Lord Napier was situated at 49 Observatory Street in the Jericho
district of North Oxford.
This beerhouse was present by 1841 when the publican was William Hall and
closed in the 1980s.
The building is now known as Lord Napier House and used as student
accommodation for Green Templeton College. |

The pub was named after
Field Marshal Lord Napier, who took part in numerous military campaigns in
the mid-19th century. It opened in 1871 but was pulled down in 1930 and
replaced with a larger building, which included two bars with oak
furnishings, a mosaic floor at the entrance and a black wrought iron
balustrade outside. It closed in the 1980s and was replaced by a suite of
offices which retained the old name as Napier House. |
