Nags Head

The Nags Head was situated at 17 King Street (now 19 Merton Street).  This beerhouse was present by 1793 when the publican was Michael Thornton, and remained in the Thornton family for over 80 years. It closed in 1908 and has now been demolished with the area redeveloped; the last publican was Henry Watts.
