The Sandpiper was situated at 44 High Street.  This pub closed in 1999 and is now used as a private house. Present as The Railway Tavern by 1871 when the publican was Eli Masterman, it was renamed The Sandpiper in 1983. Also known as The Common Room as one time, colloquially as 'The Rampant Cat' as its landlord collected stray cats.
