The Unicorn was situated on Park Street. A 16th century coaching inn, it was later known as Nell Gwynnes, and then Naughty Nells. After closing as a licensed pub in the early 1990s, this traded for several years as an ‘all you can eat for a tenner’ Mongolian restaurant, with an attached nightclub. These closed too in approximately 2005, and the building has been empty since then. It is said that Dickens’ Old Curiosity Shop was based on this building.
