Gibraltar Inn

The Gibraltar Inn was situated on Gibraltar Lane. This grade-II listed pub closed in 1990 and is now in residential use.

Listed building details:
Farmhouse, now inn. Late C17 with later additions and alterations. Painted uncoursed limestone rubble, graded slate roof. Longhouse- derivative plan with former cowhouse and hayloft at left end; C19 steep-pitched short parallel range behind to right. 2 storeys; two C19 horizontal sliding sashes (right-hand converted to fixed light) and one 16-paned fixed-light window to ground floor with 2 mid-C19 casements below eaves; entrances to left and right through late C20 lean-to porches; prominent C19 brown brick ridge stack. Former cowhouse has late C20 casement inserted to front. Interior: chamfered cross beams with straight-cut stops to 2 main ground-floor rooms; large inglenook fireplace with chamfered wooden lintel partly re-built late C20; heavy joists to former cowhouse. Said to have been an inn since late C18.
