The Englishcombe Inn was situated on Englishcombe Lane, closing in 2008. To be converted to a care home.

One former landlord (manager?) was the actor Graham Moffatt (1919 -1965), the 'chubby boy' in many of Will Hay's films, e.g. "Oh! Mr Porter!" (1937). Moffatt was semi-retired from show business by the time he started running pubs, but still appeared in a few films up to the early 1960s.
