B3151. This grade-II listed pub was
open by 1782 and closed c1964 when it became a tearoom. It is now a private

Inn now house. C17. Local lias stone
cut and squared; thatched roof with plain gables; stone end and brick
intermediates chimney stacks. 'L' plan. 2 storeys, 4-bays. 2 and 3-light
small pane casement windows, bays 4 upper and 3 lower being blank, louvred
shutters to lower windows; between bays 3 and 4 boarded door with large
glazed panel set under semi-conical thatched hood. Single-storey thatched
extension on north gable which may have been separate shop: north end clad
in elm weatherboarding with small door and 9-pane bow window, with loft
doors above. Interior not seen, but reputed to have plank and muntin
partition. Formerly the Hare and Hounds Inn. |
