The Somerset Inn was situated at New Pit. It  is now in residential use.

This pub was originally in the ownership of Georges Brewery of Bristol until taken over by Courage in the mid 1960s, and later by Ushers of Trowbridge A plan of the original layout prior to thd 1950s shows a small bar, a snug, a very small servery area and a jug and bottle, the remainder of the ground floor being living accommodation. On the first floor there were two private bedrooms and a function room. Toilet facilities were pretty spartan comprising only a tarred urinal in the yard and an earth closet near the kitchen entrance. Up until 1954 there was only a license for the sale of beers, cider and tobacco. No mechanical means of lifting the beer from the cellar to the bar existed until 1955 when major alterations to the premises were carried out. In 1954 Georges Brewery under the direction of the District Surveyor, Mr Harold Cox, carried out major alterations. Living accommodation except for the kitchen was moved to the first floor, dispensing with the function room. A bathroom was installed on part of the landing. The main bar was extended to incorporate the private lounge. A new service area was formed and Ladies and Gents toilets were constructed and connected to a new septic tank in part of what was the car park. The old urinal was demolished and extra parking was provided. Soon after the alterations were complete a full licence was granted so that wines and spirits could be sold.
