The Four Alls was situated on Corporation Street. This pub closed in the 1990s and is now used as an Indian restaurant.

I recall TFA as a 20 – ish lad in the late 70s and early 80s, as 1 of the 2 “go to” places for the Friday lunchtime migration of the masses from County Hall on the other side of the road. Get there too late and you would quite possibly never actually reach the bar to order anything directly, instead relying on somebody that you knew – everybody knew pretty much everybody - to do so for you. Fivers would be passed over head to buy your round, beers (think I was drinking Badger & Bass, or Tuborg if I was in a lager mood) passed equally over head in the opposite direction. Evenings were still busy though much less bedlam - you could actually reach the bar, if nothing else. Music in the evening was much the same as the lunch times, but marginally fewer decibels, and there was a well-stocked juke box. Finally, TFA must surely have made stacks of cash from the video game consoles… I seem to recall “ICBM”, “Firebird”?, some tank thing, “Asteroids” of course, and my favourite, “Caterpillar” with those damn mushrooms. 50 pence well spent!
