The Woodspring

The Woodspring was situated at 238 High Street. The pub was a former coaching inn, built in 1810 and was used as an auction house. It was a base for air raid wardens during World War II. Ice creams were sold through a small window. The pub was originally named 'The New Inn' before being renamed to 'The Woodspring' in the mid 20th Century. The garden has a small stone building within, which predates the pub. The pub backs on to Station Road, which has a old stone wall adjoining, which contributed to the narrow, claustrophobic atmosphere down the road. Planning permission was rejected in February 2023 by North Somerset Council for the demolition of the pub and erection of 10no. dwellings.
