The Rising Sun was situated on Knowl Bank Road. This was a truly great pub. It brewed it's own beers ( from 1989 ) and sold home made food which was advertised ona blackboard above the (real) fire. It also had great bar staff. Beers included: Rising             3.2%  ish Setting            4.4 % ish Sunstroke       5.2%  ish Total Eclipse, not sure, but certainly 5% ish Solar Flare      11 % ish  The pub was situated in a somewhat isolated position. It remains there today. Looking just as it did when it closed in 2001. The owner of the pub still live there ( as far as I know). Sadly, I believe the landlady ( Gillian Holland ) recently passed away.

My ex and I used to go there occasionally and I had my 30th birthday celebration there in 1990. At the end of the night, they drove us back to Biddulph for 50p per head in their minibus. A cracking night. From memory, The Setting was a blend of Rising and Sunstroke, rather than a distinct brew.
