My 2GGF, Charles Wheldon, was the landlord of the Green Man. The records show he was the victualler/landlord from 1870 to 1873. The Inn and surrounding building went up for sale in march of 1873. The surrounding buildings included. A brewery, storeroom, tunhouses, stables, covered bowling alley, yard and other conveniences belonging to the owner. Two rented cottages are included with the provision not to evict the current occupiers.

I used to use the Green Man from around 1962 when Eric Peace was landlord. Memory of police arriving late one night when noticeably underage drinkers were there. Eric's comment 'These lads need their beer' and police left! Great memories.
