The Britannia Inn was situated on Northfield Road. It was demolished in the early 1970s to make way for new housing. On the left was a piece of land where a fair would come to town and set up shop from time to time, and immediately to the left of that was my grandparents' house. My grandfather was a regular in the Britannia and when I was a kid he occasionally used to take me in with him to enjoy a packet of crisps and a glass of pop while he supped on his pint.
