The Mermaid Inn was a 17th century
former coaching inn. Built by 1638. Was originally called Blekemere House.
It was an inn by 1851 and presumably named after the mermaid that supposedly
lives in the nearby Bleke/Blake/Black Mere. Closed by at least 2012 it is
now used as holiday accommodation. |
