Three Kings

The Three Kings was situated on Cornhill, opposite the Market Cross. and one door down from the huge Bell Hotel (demolished for the Post Office in the 1890’s), the chemist in between was also demolished for the new Boot Cash Store- shown here, and the Three Kings is partly visible, as a Hotel, possibly picking up some trade from the lost Bell, although the Griffin Hotel is still in business further along. Originally the Bell was listed at 3 Corn Market, so the Three Kings would have been No 1! Further to the left, and down the hill was the Meat market, all re-numbered c1900, and then called the Cornhill, when the Three Kings was numbered at 13. Closed in the 1960s.
