The Kings Arms was situated at 42 Thoroughfare. This grade-II listed pub closed in 1960 and is now used as a bookshop.
 

 
Listed building details:
Early C18, 2 storey and attic. 3 dormers, pedimented. Brick with stucco lined as ashlar. Plinth, glazed panttiles, wood cornice with ball 'dentils'. 5 windows, at 1st floor, sash, with glazing bars and flush frames. 6-Panel door panelled linings, channelled pilasters, frieze and ball 'dentil' cornice.
