The Royal Oak was situated on Thetford Road. This pub closed in 2008.
 
Just a small bit of information found from the 1911 census.  This was my Great grandfather John Carter and hence my grandfather Percy.  Sarah Carter nee Balaam.
1911 - Census, Living at the Oak Public House, Ixworth Thorpe, Suffolk was head John Carter 46 born Ixworth occ Publican and wife of 20 years Sarah 48 born Sapiston.  Along with children Percy 18 born Ixworth occ Assistant in Business and William 17 born Ixworth occ Blacksmith Apprentice.
They were not at the pub in previous census.

Paul Leczycki   Any more information about past owners, as in 1901 my great-great grandad (Robert Henry Byford) owned it and it looks like his sister-in-law's husband (John Carter) had the pub after him.
