The Willoughby Arms was situated on Willoughby
Close, Main Road. This pub closed in the 1990s and is now in residential
use. |

I used this pub during the 1970s
when I stayed at Hacheston, next village. It closed about 1980 when the
elderly couple retired or died. They were in their 80s. The locals also used
it as a sweet shop. The draft beer was ‘Worthington E’ which took an age for
them to pour. They also had Tolly beers in bottles. The publican told me
that they had rarely left the village during their lifetimes and had gone to
London in 1933 hated it and returned on the next possible train. It had a
small snug and little else. |
