The Feathers was situated at 231 High Street.
This grade-II listed pub dates from
the late 16th century. It closed in 2013 and was converted to residential
use. |

building details: |
Public house, later C16 or early C17
core, encased C18 extended C19. Timber framed, part plastered part brick
casing, plaintile roof L plan, the main range a lobby entrance. 2 storeys.
Three 3-light casements those to ground floor having vertically boarded
shutters. 2 C20 doors. INTERIOR: Ground floor bar has heavily moulded and
embattled cambered tie beam, elaborately moulded post,
and chamfer stops in form of a cross, all c1500, and probably reused but
integral to the structure. No access to upper floor or rear wing. |
