The White Hart was situated at 79 High Street. This grade-II listed pub
closed in 1985 and is
now in mixed retail use. |

building details: |
Coaching Inn, now hotel and public
house. Late C15 core with late C18 red brick facade. 'L' plan: rear range
timber framed and roughcast. Pantiled hipped roofs. 2 storeys. 9 window
range: sashes in flush frames with glazing bars and flat gauged brick
arches; second first floor window to left hand blocked. Main entrance
portico in-antis with partially fluted, engaged Ionic columns with
entablature: 6 raised and fielded panelled door with similar linings. 2
doors to bars: left hand 4 panelled with upper glazed and right hand door 6
panelled with rectangular fanlight and entablature. Range to yard has
scattered fenestration: mainly modern casements. 4 brick stacks to front
roof ridge and hipped ends. In the lounge bar there is a good roll moulded
beam with stop chamfers. |
