I used this pub regularly in the mid to
late 1980s. It was a two bar pub. Public bar was functional but comfortable
and welcoming. Lounge bar was excellent, a traditional Courage lounge with
wood panelling open fireplace small bar with stools and comfy chairs and
sofas. Doors to garden (where a goat lived). Mine host was Charles. A
splendid old gentleman. He had an amazing collection of memorabilia which he
would sometimes produce to show us late evening lounge drinkers.
Unfortunately one night he was burgled and hit. He wasn't a young man and
lost interest a bit. Apart from that my wife and I have great memories of
the Fox and the regulars. |

Does any one remember my father Harry Hanson and his wife
Gwen? They were the Licencees from about 1955, till Harry's death in
1966. He was taken ill at the inn and died on may 22 1966. I spent some
time with them during my school holidays, and remember playing the piano
there. So sad to hear it is no longer there, part of my childhood now
disappeared. Please reply if you have any news, would love to hear from
you, |
