The Half Moon was situated at 303 London Road. This pub
closed in 2005. |

The only time I visited The Half Moon was in
late 1969 to see a band rehearsing in the function room with the drummer who
had just replaced me. His name was Rhett Arnold and he and I pretty much
swapped bands. I had just joined his musical family's band, which consisted
of Rhett's older brother Glen on guitar, Glen's girlfriend Pauline on bass,
their sister June on vocals and an organist called Del, who didn't stay with
the band very long and was replaced by Rhett's other brother Peter. Rhett's
other sister Holly was really the drummer I replaced as she was expecting a
baby and had to stop playing the drums. Their father played saxophone and
drums as well and they lived not far from The Half Moon. |
