The Red Deer was situated at 279
Brighton Road. This large, rather impressive Victorian pub was one of a
series of pubs along the Brighton Road that bus stops were named after. The
next pub along, The Swan & Sugar Loaf, has also closed. The Red Deer had one
bar converted to a club/disco in the 1970s - red paint, low lighting and a
DJ booth. |
