White Swan

The White Swan was situated on Station Approach. Present by 1867, the extension on the front of the building dates to 1870. Not known why name chosen but there was a pond the other side of the railway which passes close by. Known locally as 'Mucky Duck' by locals, perhaps by the fact that upkeep was poor. This pub closed in 1978 and was demolished shortly afterwards for redevelopment.
