The Good Companions was situated on Tithepit Shaw Lane. This pub closed in 2012 and has been purchased by the Lidl supermarket chain and demolished.  Following boundary changes this was the only legal public house in Sanderstead where there is a covenant against the building of pubs.
As of August 2015, Lidl have still not built on the site. There was a banner posted on the side of the neighbouring building, clearly displaying a message that Lidl were not welcome. This has since been removed, but there has been no activity on the site since the demolition.
