Cricketers On The Green

The Cricketers On The Green was situated on Weston Green. This pub was previously known as The Cricketers.

When I started going to it in 1969 it was run by Eddie and Sheila Potter. It had a large saloon bar and a small public bar, which my small band of friends used as a meeting place for several years. One of the regulars in the public bar was an old chap called Ralph. It was a Courage pub and therefore served what was the best pint around for some of us, ie Courage Directors. Courage IPA, in bottles, was also a favourite. They served a really good draught Guinness - in those days you could not count on a pub's ability to serve a good one.
At some point it became a wine bar called Tryst. This can be seen in the oldest Google Streetview, dated July 2008. By August 2012 it had become The Cricketers On The Green; it can be seen with flags flying. June 2014 shows a "To Let" sign, as do October 2014, July 2015, July 2016 (at which point it has wire fences across it). April 2018 shows it with no signs, freshly painted, presumably in residential use.
