The Bleak House was situated on
Chertsey Road. This pub was fairly well known for being mentioned in HG
Wells War of the Worlds. Was still operating as a Pub in the 1980's as
far as i can recall and did at one time have regular music/jam sessions. I
visited not long before it closed and had a game on the pool/billiard table.
Pretty run down and was empty so unsurprised when it did. later re opened as
Sands Restaurant which then closed quite recently as a result of Covid
impact. is now used as the Gosling restaurant. |
