The Wood Pigeon was situated on Station Approach. This pub closed in 2007 and has now been converted to flats.

I used to walk down my nextdoor neighbours garden, over a railway bridge through the station car park and into the pub. It was popular with commuters, but of a lunchtime you might well find the famous WWII Polish fighter pilot become artist, Stefan Knapp who lived and worked a short walk away in Sandhills.

John Murray 1988/1995 I used to work at the now long-gone Institute of Oceanographic Sciences on Brook Road, across the station footbridge and up the lane from the pub. This was a regular lunchtime and post-work venue for a few good pints of Abbot Ale before before getting the train home to Haslemere.
