The Plough was situated at 9 Spon
Street.
It was bombed in November of 1940 and replaced by a medieval
building from Much Park Place, although the actual pub was a large brick
19th century structure. |
|
This hotel/pub was owned by my
mother’s father.(Tom Stringer, Mary,my mother was born 1909). Bedrooms and
function rooms on all floors, and bars on ground floor. She told me how she
would play on the snooker tables on the first floor. The hotel had stabling
for many horses and carriages accessed by the archway to the left. Quite a
substantial property! |
