Fox & Hounds

The Fox & Hounds closed in 2016. A grade-II listed building.

From The Good Pub Guide 1983:
In spite of its wide reputation for good food, this old fashioned Cotswold stone inn has succeeded in keeping a warmly local  and almost homely atmosphere. Its single beamed bar has well-cushioned wall benches and a window seat, a couple of high-backed old settles and other comfortable armchairish seats around a nice collection of old tables, a large stone fireplace, some stripped stonework, some old hunting prints, and usually a lot of people tucking into large helpings of good country broth (95p), ploughmans or home made pate (£1.25), steak and kidney pie (£1.75), spaghetti bolognese or lasagne al forno (£2.05) and curried chicken or prawns (£2.50), neatley served by a friendly waitress. There is also a small separate dining-room with an a la carte menu (if you stay the night, dinner, bed and breakfast with any three courses from this menu is £18 a head). Well-kept Manns on handpump. The four bedrooms are in an attractively converted stableblock, and the breakfasts are good. A nice place to stay.
