The George was situated at 1 Market Place. The original 17th century pub was demolished in the 1840s and replaced by a pub of the same name. This closed in 1955 and was subsequently demolished with shops built on the site. Also known as The Royal George, George & Wheatsheaf, and The Wheatsheaf.
