The Horse & Jockey was situated near the site of the present number 6 Jockey Lane, and gave the name to the Lane in which it stood. The pub name was later changed to the Coach and Horses. The last Landlord here was Edward Orchard, he was there in 1853 and the Pub closed soon after this date. Edward Orchard then became the first steward of the nearby Hope Coffee Tavern (unlicensed), this tavern is now private dwellings, numbers 2 and 4 Jockey Lane.
