Rising Sun

The Rising Sun was situated on Castle Street. This pub has now been demolished and replaced by flats. My wedding reception was held here in 1967.

I too had my Wedding Reception in The Rising Sun but in 1973. Learnt to play darts there & enjoyed Folk Club evenings in the early 70’s. Remember the dreary bar on the right – never anyone in there but they did have a Hot Cross Bun nailed to the ceiling beams every year. Got locked in the Car Park once & had to raise the Landlord – Nick? – who was not best pleased. Many a misspent evening there – happy carefree days
