New Inn

The New Inn was situated on Kirkgate Lane. This grade-II listed pub is now in residential use.
 

 
Listed building details:
Public house, now 2 dwellings. 1733 on datestone, raised in C19 and remodelled in C20. hammer-dressed limestone; pantile roof. 2-storeys;  2 upper windows to each house. Irregular quoins. Two 4-panel doors under rectangular fanlights, flanked by 4-pane sashes. Door to right is original with raised panelling but has been inserted in new opening. Door to left is C20 copy, but in original opening. First floor: outer windows
4-pane sashes; 12-pane sashes to centre pair. Painted, keyed lintels to all original openings. Keystone over left-hand door is inscribed ' T G '. 1733 Coved eaves course. Coped gables with kneelers to steeply-pitched roof. The bases only of 2 end and 1 left of centre stacks remain. In the right-hand gable wall are C20 windows under early C18 long keyed lintels.
