Coaching inn. Mid C18, partly
reconstructed in C20. Part roughcast, part rendered, C20 plain tile roofs. 2
storeys. L-shaped plan, 5-bay range to Low Green C18, roughcast; return
range to High Street 1:5 bays, C20,
rendered. Elevation to Low Green, ground floor: basket-arched carriageway
with tripartite keystone in first bay; second bay blank. Other openings have
ashlar surrounds with tripartite keystones. Part-glazed door below 3-pane
overlight in third bay. Sash windows with glazing bars. Hipped roof to
right. Ridge stack between bays 2 and 3. Elevation to High Street: return
range of Low-Green block: 1 bay of sash windows with glazing bars in ashlar
surrounds with tripartite keystones. C20 range: ground floor projects
forward with flat roof; bays divided by paired Tuscan pilasters; 16-pane
sash windows with shutters on first floor. Concrete coping with kneelers.
Brick stacks at ends and between bays 2 and 3. |
