The Royal Hotel was situated on Main Road. This pub, open since 1813, closed in Feb 2024. A fall in the number of customers was cited as the contributory factor. The pub was noted for hosting community 'sings' of traditional north Sheffield Carols. Attempts to retain the building as a village pub and community hub failed. Planners have recommended approval of an application to convert the building into 3 homes.
