The Globe was situated at 81 Northgate,
on the corner of Bolckow Street. This pub opened in 1890 and closed in 2020.
The first publican was William Weatherill. It hosted Blues Nights in the
past, including Chicken Shack, and bassist Herbie Flowers who wrote
“Granddad” for Clive Dunn, worked with David Bowie, and played bass on Lou
Reed’s “Walk on the Wild Side”. A planning application has been submitted to
convert into four x two bedroom flats. |
