Porters was situated at 17 Milton Road. This pub is now used
as an NHS dental clinic. |
|
This pub was known as Oliver's Ale
House for decades and was a favourite haunt of Kirk Balk School's Sixth
Formers in the 80s. The legend was that, as long as you were well behaved,
the staff would
serve you in a nappy! I misspent many Friday night here between the ages of
16 and 18. It was never the same when it became Porters, which was a mistake
because the Porter family tried to make it more up market and it failed very
quickly. |
